I'm back again with Red Velvet and this time with their 3rd mini album Russian Roulette.
SM Entertainment announced that Red Velvet would be making a comeback in September 2016, on the 5th of September 2016 the M/V Teaser for 러시안 룰렛 (Russian Roulette) was released.

On the 7th of September 2016 the M/V for 러시안 룰렛 (Russian Roulette) was released along with the physical and digital release of their 3rd mini album of the same name.

On the 9th of September 2016, member Irene talked about the difficulties that they faced while preparing for the album, stating that it was both physically and mentally tiring as their comeback date kept getting postponed.
Bradley Stern of PopCrush called their title track a "perky, retro-sounding electro-pop tune" that was expected from most K-pop idols, and praised the black comedy in the tracks music video. He compared it to the film Jawbreaker and said that it's "pretty genius."
On the 6th of September 2016, Red Velvet held a special countdown to the release of their new album through the Naver V app.
Promotions began on the 8th of September 2016, starting on M Countdown with the group performing both 러시안 룰렛 (Russian Roulette) and Lucky Girl.
러시안 룰렛 (Russian Roulette) won Red Velvet a total of 6 music show trophies, 1 through Inkigayo, 2 through The Show, 1 through Show Champion and 2 through M Countdown.
Russian Roulette peaked at No.1 on the Gaon Albums Chart, No.40 on the Oricon Albums Chart, No.1 on the Five-Music (Taiwan) Albums Chart, No.18 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart and No.2 on the Billboard World Albums Chart.

The M/V for 러시안 룰렛 (Russian Roulette) has so far gained 111,449,375 million views, with views continuing to increase on a daily basis.
The album is set out in a hardback book style case with the same layout as their first mini album Ice Cream Cake. The photobook is a mixture of stunning beauty shots of the girls as well as also following the concept for the M/V. The album comes with a random member photocard.

I absolutely loved the music video for Russian Roulette it was like a Red Velvet Itchy & Scratchy show and it was nice to see something different. As always Red Velvet put out an amazing album which shows their versatility as a group. I don't think there are many girl groups that I've come across that are able to pull off different styles and concepts, but there are groups that have tried to change up their image and concept and it's not worked out well so they revert back. From start to finish this mini album is amazing with the tracks being different from the last and showcasing their vocals as individuals as well as showing off their skill as a group to harmonise their voices. I wouldn't say that this is my favourite album from Red Velvet but it's still an album I'd put on while I was doing chores around the house to keep me motivated. I love the pictures within the photobook and the cover for the album really reminds me of The Wizard of Oz, I love the colours used for the album, it really mixes well with their red and velvet image.
